lincoln got sick. and by sick, i mean SICK!about 12:45 one night, i heard a cough.... a choke.... another cough... and "MOMMY!!!" i ran in the room, and lo and behold...... VOMIT. LOTS OF IT. BROCCOLI VOMIT. SMELLY BROCCOLI VOMIT. so i yelled for scott and he came in and grabbed lincoln (then link puked more ON scott). after each time he threw up he would say "i'm SORRRRRY! i'm SORRRY!" (because that is what we were saying to him... it was so sad) we stripped his clothes off, took off his sheets and grabbed his blankies, threw them all in the wash, then proceeded to toss Link in the tub. so by now he's acting like he feels just fine so we're thinking "great, it was just something he ate and now he's fine". we put new PJs on him, new sheets on the bed, and gave him a clean blankie.... scott took a shower, and then we got in bed (about 30 minutes after the ordeal began)............... 7 minutes later......... "MOOOOMMMMY!!!!!" yes. again with the throw up. so scott and i get up, strip his clothes off, take off the sheets, get the blankie, and start a second load of laundry.... by this time, i decided that we would just turn the heat way up and that lincoln would sleep in just a diaper. AND, we're down to our last clean sheet. he didn't get it all over him this time, so we were able to wipe off his face and just put him back to bed. (this all takes about 20 mintues) scott and i crawl into bed................... 10 minutes later............... "MOOOOOMMMMMMY!" yes. again. i'm not kidding. so, um, THAT was our last clean sheet. we take off the sheet, wipe the kid off (there wasn't much left in his stomach so he didn't get nasty), and cover his matress with a TOWEL. lincoln is crying, rubbing his eyes, and saying "tired." but he just can't go to sleep.... we can blame this on the dry heaving. so Scott decides that he won't go to work the next day and that the two of us will take shifts taking care of Lincoln so that we can both at least get a little sleep. i took the first shift (it is now 2:15 am). i left Lincoln in the port-a-crib and turned on a Baby Einstein video.... i laid on the couch so that he could see me and the TV at the same time.... that kept him happy. i rewound the video i don't know how many times.... i was able to close my eyes and relax, but not sleep- because every few minutes Link would say "Mommy!" expecting me to say "Lincoln!" at about 3:15, he threw up more, so i got up to change the towel and to wipe him off. at 4:15, the little guy started crying out "tired! tired!" and laid down in the bed crying.... with all the lights on AND the video going, my child FINALLY fell asleep. HALLELUIAH!!!! so scott never had to take a shift but oh well i took one for the team.... i got off the couch and went to bed and was able to sleep for 5 hours which was SPECTACULAR~ i never thought he'd sleep that long being as sick as he was. and now he's just fine. :)
we've had the Scott Family Christmas (my husband Scott's mother's maiden name is Scott- hence his FIRST name) so all of my husband's aunts, uncles, cousins, and cousins' kids were there....
after a week, we finally got our heat fixed and were able to move BACK into our house. it was a miracle.
i am through with my Christmas shopping. i waited entirely too late to shop this year. but now it is done. amen.
oh, today in church we talked about how Mary was between the ages of 13 and 15 when Jesus was born and Joseph was between 15 and 18..... so creepy. i have cousins that age. it's amazing how God uses inexperienced, unqualified people to do some of His biggest jobs. He is truly amazing. Praise God!
