celebrations, shopping sprees, and dead animal body parts

so, my birthday was 2 days ago... and though the sad reality is that the older you get, the less exciting the birthday celebrations become. unless of course you're Oprah, which i apparently am not. oh well, i suppose i'm getting old (AND i'm not one of the richest women in the world) and i'll just have to get over that. ok, i'm over it.
however, this birthday has to have been one of the best ever, well, at least in my "mature" years. The day started off like any other... I originally had plans to have lunch w/my mom and dad, but the plans fell through (it's a long detailed story and i don't really want to get into it, but it was no big deal). So I ran some errands, nothign too exciting. About noon, Scott called to tell me that our tax refund check had come in. Hooray! PLUS, it was pay day! Yippee! That evening, Scott got home from work and told me that SOMEONE HAD COMMITTED TO BUY OUR TRUCK! YA-FREAKING-HOO!!!! We've only been trying to sell the damn thing for a MONTH! i mean, seriously, what could be better than all these good things happening on your birthday? so Scott and i went to eat dinner at Lytle Land & Cattle. at one point, i thought he had told our waitress that it was my birthday, because all of the sudden, about 8 employees at the restaurant were right by our table, and i saw one girl look over her shoulder and point at me. i thought they were about to start singing to me, and i griped at scott for it... hahaha, little did i know, scott was innocent of the accused crimes. so we went on with our dinner. we went out, bought me a bike (we're starting an exercise regimen for those of you who don't know), and Scott got me a blackberry cobbler and some vanilla ice cream.
see? i told you, nothing too exciting, but i thoroughly enjoyed the day. i guess i'm as boring as my age says i am! haha

yesterday, the big "Dittos for Kiddos" sale began. I had consigned some things this year, so I got to go shop before the public, which was EXCELLENT, plus, i'm making some money from selling Lincoln's old stuff. it's a win, win situation. Usually I would have my mom go with me to shop, but she is out of town, so i somehow got my husband to agree to go. BAD IDEA. well, i mean, he was a GREAT HELP and it was actually wonderful having him go with me.... but i walked in that building with somewhat of a budget, and with his help, we blew through the roof of our budget. that's right, friends, we spend $210.00 on clothes, books, videos, a toy, and a piggy bank for Lincoln. HOLY CRAP! i'm serious, if there was anything cute on the 4T racks, it's all gone now. (yes, he will be wearing 4T this summer- he's a big boy!). we have enough clothes for spring, summer, and fall for this year. plus we got like 6 new videos, 4 new books, a singing Elmo (by the way, i can't understand why i bought the damn thing, it's quite obnoxious), and his first Piggy Bank. we really got a good deal on everything, but we now have SOOOO MUCH STUFF!
to say my son is spoiled would be just a slight understatement. the kid needs a sibling, pronto. yet the concept of ME having to have another child will not be followed by the word pronto. alas, we have an issue there.

hopefully, since we have now sold our truck... i mean, we made some money off of it, PLUS we will be saving $5,000 a year in payments for it, HOPEFULLY buying a house is in our near future. when it happens i expect a big, elaborate party with lots and lots of gifts haha, only kidding. i will accept a small party with lots of gifts

i think i am funny.

tomorrow, my childhood best friend is getting married. another of my childhood friends recently found out that she is expecting... we are all getting old, and it is crazy. it's hard to imagine my son's life could possibly go by this quickly. he will be 3 in six months. before i know it, he will be 18. i'm just not ready for that. well, except for the fact that scott and i will have the house to ourselves again :) (oh, well, i guess i really should calculate another child into this equation).

i fear that now i am just babbling... just typing any small and uninformative / unentertaining thing that pops in to my mind (which can also be explained in such terms- KIDDING!) so i will pull the plug on the rambilng blog before i get in too deep. goodbye, all.

(oh, one more thing since i know you all care so much... for some reason there is a deer skull, antlers included, laying on my computer desk. it's just right here by me... and every time i reach over to grab the mouse, i get scratched by mr. deer skull's teeth. quite disgusting, if i do say so myself. my husband really needs to clean up his deer crap.)

it's the most wonderful tiiiiime of the year

i love february. seriously. it's great. it's still cold (i LOVE cold weather!), but there are some days that are nice, like 70º... and there's VD, my wedding anniversary, and my birthday.... not to mention that baseball will soon be back! yeah!

we filed our taxes on monday, which is super exciting... having kids really makes tax time a time to look forward to, because of what is known as "earned income credit" or something like that. LOVE IT!

so as of today, february 21, scott and i have been married exactly 3 years. is that not CRAZY? that's almost 1100 days. i can't believe it. i don't think we have anythign special going on today other than exchanging gifts, but this weekend we're having an all-out bash. well, just the 2 of us... y'see, 7 days from now is my 23rd birthday... scott and i have a tradition of celebrating what i like to call "Birthiversary" the weekend between our anniversary and my birthday... we go out and have japanese food, and then there's usually some sort of surprise for me, and then we go home and watch movies or whatever. it's a greattttt night, and i'm so excited it's in 3 days!

lincoln is going to austin this weekend to stay with my sister. my parents are making a trip to san antonio, so lincoln will be riding with them till austin, and they will drop him off at his Tía's house. he'll be gone from friday until Monday, which is a really long time for my baby to be gone, but it'll be nice sleeping in all weekend! PLUS, we're moving back into our house this weekend, so it will be really convenient for him to not be around while we're trying to get a ton of work done around the casa. *sigh* i want to mooooove!

so, let's wrap things up. lincoln is leaving me for a few days , i will be 23 in 7 days, yay for tax time, and TODAY is our 3rd wedding anniversary. that's all i've got for today.

VD, salmonella, etc.

HA! i tricked you! you're probably thinking i'm a nasty, nasty girl since the title of my blog includes the phrase "VD"... well, folks, if you know me at all, you know that i thoroughly enjoy wishing people a "Happy VD!" on Valentine's Day. so there ya go, and just so you know, i'm vernereal disease free... haha, gross.

so yeah yesterday was the big "VD" and ok, it's seriously cheesy, and it's WAY over-commercialized.... but a girl still has the tendency to enjoy it- as stupid as the holdiay is altogether... so my hubby comes home from work with hot pink tulips (my favorite!) and a SUPER sweet card... everybody together now, "AWWWWWW"... unless you're single and you hate me... then it's, "EWWWWW" hahaha. i know, i know. and then we went out for dinner, came back to the house and took a nice loooong soak in the hot tub... it was awesome. it was snowing outside, and we had the windows open to the sunroom, so we'd be freakin hot because of the 102º water, but then the 22º air was coming in and hitting us. yeah, it was awesome. and apparently we're pretty white-trashy, because during our hot tub soak, we enjoyed an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter. HAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA...

ok, now to the topic of SALMONELLA. i was just browsing through AOL news, and found a story about a well-known product being recalled because of salmonella... so i open the story, begin reading... and it's for peanut butter! what the hell? are we safe from ANY food we eat? it's in meat, we know that... it's in our SPINACH... the LETTUCE at Taco Bell, and now our PEANUT BUTTER? freaking GEEZE! so blah blah blah i'm reading the story, and discover that it's for the same brand of peanut butter that i have in my pantry... Peter Pan peanut butter... they go on to list the code on the top of the jar that would distinguish if YOUR peanut butter was on the recall list... and jars with the code starting with the numbers "2111" are on the list.... i'm thinking "no way, i've been eating my peanut butter, there's no way" um, SURE ENOUGH! AAAAAND, what REALLY pisses me off- i've been feeding it to my SON! my 2 1/2 year old SON! UGH! it just makes me so mad. these companies need to get their shit together, seriously. do i have to be paranoid about EVERYTHING i eat from now on? do i have to worry about everything i put on my son's plate because it may or may not contain bacteria that could make him seriously ill or possibly kill him? i'm so mad. ugh.

that is all for today. au revoir.

SURPRISE!!!!

as for the surprise, well, that will be at the END of my blog- so you MUST read all the way to the end- because it is WAY exciting!!!

So today we went to Will's 3rd birthday party. whoa was that hectic! the kids all had a great time... it sure wore Lincoln out, and it did a number on Scott and me, too! Lincoln got a kazoo, with which he is absolutely fascinated. he played with it most of the day, and has pretty much mastered it.

Mr. Exterminator Man set out traps for our skunks today! hopefully we will be able to catch the whole fam damily of them within the week and be on our way back to our own house within a week and a half! YEAH! ...then i think i will pack up boxes. no, i'm dead serious. -like things that i really won't need until we're in a bigger home. have i mentioned that i want to move into a new house? what? oh i have? ...sorry.

um, we just got a prank call... some girl calling herself Hannah, talking about how much she was looking forward to seeing us at church tomorrow. man, prank callers sure have gotten retarted since i was younger!!!

tomorrow i get to see some of my old best friends... like from when i went to school @ Jackson and Madison. they will probably be reading this blog come Monday morning... so um, i'm looking forward to seeing you guys and i'm sure i had a great time seeing you!!! :)

ok, ok, ok... i guess i've kept you waiting long enough (plus i don't have anything else to talk about)....
MY BROTHER AND HIS WIFE ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!! i'm sooo freaking excited! this will be Lincoln's first cousin on my side of the family. my first niece or nephew on my side of the family. my parents' second grandchild. wow. i mean. wow. this is huge. my brother is going to make the most amazing father. he is and has always been the nicest, funniest guy i have ever met. and im sure candace is going to be a great mom, too. wow, i'm so pumped. you don't even know.

ok, so that was the whole reason for this blog post.

UNDERWEAR

Lincoln has now worn his BIG BOY undies 3 days in a row- without wetting them!!! so he's no t officially potty trained, cuz so far it's always OUR idea for him to sit on the potty- he's asked to sit on the potty ONCE, but hey- we're making huge progress here. hooray for big boy underwear (they're Go, Diego, Go!, by the way)!!!

so far no bites on Scott's truck. seriously- not even a call yet. it's a bit disappointing. we need to sell this thing quick, and so far it doesn't look like we'll have it sold by the time our next payment is due, which really sucks.... PLUS we need money for a lot of other things right now- one of which is the freaking skunks UNDER our house and the fleas IN our house.

we haven't really lived at home in about 3 weeks. it's really getting old living out of a suitcase, not having my own food in the pantry and fridge, not having my own bed, movie selection, y'know, all the perks of being at home. just being HOME. but from now on i should refer to it as "my house" not "home" because it doesn't feel like home. i won't get started on it now, because it was the entire discussion LAST blog, but you all should know how i don't like the house we live in... i'm hoping that with money from selling the truck and taxes about to come in, we can set aside a "let's buy a house!" fund and be out of our current situation ASAP- like- within months. that would be thrilling!

so anyway, hooray for big boy underwear... and somebody buy our dang truck.

the end.

home is where your heart is- mine ain't there anymore.

so i am officially counting down the hours, no- minutes... no- seconds- until we can afford to move out of our house. it makes me miserable. yes, MISERABLE. let's go over the crappy things, shall we?

1. it's a REALLY old house, so there's no insulation... it's COLD in the winter and HOT in the summer.
2. bugs get in. i don't know where they come from- but we've got TONS of bugs in our house, no matter how many times we spray for them.
3. the house is on a pier and beam foundation, so things LIVE under our house... rattlesnakes, mice, rats- and we have a new addition- but we'll discuss that in a bit.
4. the road we live on is 70 mph.
5. we don't have a fenced in yard- so we can't get a dog (because of the 70 mph road, too!)
6. there are stickers EVERYWHERE- so Lincoln can't play outside much
7. we have seen rattlesnakes on our back porch and right outside a window, and we KNOW they live under our house. ick!
8. we live in the middle of a bunch of cotton fields. they're only farmed a small part of the year. unfarmed land + wind = LOTS of dirt = a DIRTY HOUSE (the windows leak- it's an OLLLD house!)
9. the newest residents under our house are a family of SKUNKS!
10. the skunks have brought their FLEAS with them. the fleas now live in our home. they bite us. we discovered them when we came home from Oklahoma on January 7. we have treated the house for them like 6 times. we stayed at scott's mom's house for 3 or 4 days, went home- and noticed NO FLEAS. we were uber excited...
11. the skunks SPRAYED under our house- it happened in the middle of the night- woke scott and me up. it was HORRIBLE- it's not like when you smell one when you're driving in your car. when one sprays that close to you, it like burns your throat every time you breathe in. we moved out of our house again for 3 more days.
12. we went home TODAY- the skunk smell has finally subsided enough to be able to BREATHE- we eat dinner, unpack, get Link ready for bead... and guess what? FLEAS! F*^&KING FLEAS!!!!!! there were SIX on me at once!
at this point i broke down crying- i just can't handle this anymore! scott insisted that he WASN'T leaving, so i packed up and Lincoln and I left and now we're here at my parents' house. when we got here, we got ready for baths, and found 4 more fleas on me and about 8 on Lincoln. SO DISGUSTING!

so basically, i don't feel 'at home' in my "HOME" anymore. every time i go there, it makes me cringe. i want to move. i want a house that's on a CONCRETE foundation- in town- with no wild country animals- and a fenced in backyard where Lincoln can play- and a dog- and central heat and air- and INSULATION.... oh- and MORE THAN ONE BATHROOM.

this is depressing. yeah, like, uber depressed and stressed over here.

there is a pain

my lack of blogging these last few weeks appalls me, as it should you. shame on me for being a lazy blogger, but now i feel the need, and so i must. let's get started, shall we?

it has been a crazy busy year thus far, even if we are only 18 days in.

1. Fireworks... even though TECHNICALLY it was last year- there was about 1 day's work in 2007.
2. Rebekah's wedding. January 6. on the 4th, i rode up to Oklahoma City with my mom, my sister, and Lincoln... the 5th was full of luncheon, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and things of that nature. Scott did not come to OKC until the morning of the wedding. that day was filled with running around like chickens with our heads cut off, singing in the wedding, freaking out before and during singing so much that my heart was beating so fast- i couldn't feel my hands..., reception, then a little party @ my aunt and uncle's house after the wedding... the 7th involved a 5 hour trip home with my husband and son. it was a hectic weekend.
3. we came home to FLEAS. yes, there were FLEAS in our house! and this makes NO sense because we don't have any pets!!! it took us about a week and a half to finally get rid of them. i THINK they are gone, but i am not positive. they are sooo gross!
4. then there was the huge ice storm, which was from Friday January 12 until this morning. We were stuck inside without leaving for about 3 days. this West Texas town was BELOW FREEZING for about 134 hours. which, BTW, is NOT a record- though it feels like it should be. the record is 180 hours (7 1/2 days). we were about 2 days short to break the record. TODAY is the first day since last Friday afternoon that we have been above freezing.
5. tonight, another round of wetness, followed by freezing temperatures is coming. then what looks like a repeat of last weekend- which will probably involve being stuck indoors again for a couple days.
6. about 30 minutes ago i found out that i have what seems to be a stomach ulcer. HOORAY! i have always had a finicky stomach- i inherited my bad stomach from my dad... and his dad... but lately it has been bothering more than usual. my Dr. said he's about 90% sure that it's an ulcer- but if i'm not better in a few weeks, i have to go back to the Dr. for blood tests because i could possibly have gall bladder disease or something even more serious. thankfully, he's almost positive it's an ulcer. either way, i feel like total crap. i feel nauseated 60% of the day. that's 60% all the 24 hours in one day... what is that? about 14 1/2 hours a day... not that i've actually COUNTED the hours that i feel poorly, but i'm guesstimating 60% of them.

Lincoln is a freaking pest. I mean, i love the kid to death- but he's going through this serious defiant stage... driving me up the wall! at the same time, i've got some baby fever going on- - then i start to think about having TWO kids. it totally freaks me out- hahaha.

we are selling scott's truck this month. hopefully before our truck payment is due on the 28th. his truck had some body damage- which is going to cost like $1200 to get fixed- thank goodness for insurance!!! so yeah we're getting it fixed and then selling it so we can start saving up some money and hopefully move into a new house at some point this year (oh please LORD!)

ok um i'm out of things to say, plus i think this is long enough anyway... hope you are all doing well
